Your Schedule of Care
Prenatal care involves a series of regular check-ups to monitor your health and the growth of your baby. These visits allow us to identify and address any potential concerns early and provide you with the information you need to have a safe and healthy pregnancy.
The typical schedule for prenatal visits includes:
- The First Trimester (Weeks 1 to 12): Once your pregnancy is confirmed, we will see you for your initial intake and first official prenatal visit. During this time, we establish your health baseline, determine your due date, and perform initial bloodwork.
- The Second Trimester (Weeks 13 to 28): During this phase, we typically see you once every four weeks. We monitor the baby’s heartbeat, track your weight and blood pressure, and perform the detailed 20-week anatomy scan.
- The Third Trimester (Weeks 29 to 36): As your due date approaches, we see you every two weeks. We begin more frequent monitoring of the baby’s position and your overall comfort.
- The Final Stretch (Week 36 to Delivery): In the final month of pregnancy, we see you every week. We check for cervical changes and ensure both you and the baby are ready for labor.
- Ongoing Education: At every visit, we discuss topics such as nutrition, exercise, what to avoid, and what to expect as your body changes. We encourage you to bring a list of questions to every appointment.

Starting Your Journey on the Right Path
Your first prenatal visit is typically the longest and most comprehensive of your entire pregnancy. It is our opportunity to get to know you, understand your health history, and build the foundation for your care. We recommend scheduling this visit as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test.
What happens during the first visit:
- Confirmation and Dating: We confirm the pregnancy and use ultrasound or your last menstrual period to establish your estimated due date.
- Full Physical Exam: Your provider performs a complete physical, including a pelvic exam and Pap test if you are due for one.
- Initial Lab Work: We check your blood type, iron levels, and screen for certain infections or conditions that could affect the pregnancy.
- Health History Review: We discuss your past medical history, previous pregnancies, and any medications you are currently taking.
- Q and A Session: We provide you with educational materials and spend time answering your initial questions about diet, vitamins, and lifestyle changes.
